The official statement on the clash is yet to come. However, local sources tell that one security personnel was killed by the militants’ firing while four others were wounded. There are also unverified claims, from local sources, of 15 militants being killed during the clash. The wounded security personnel were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Hospital in Tal.
Kurram Agency remained the most bloody battlefield between militants (who invaded the land) and locals (who developed a strong resistance) with the security forces joined the locals in fighting back the militants. After more than a year and a half of bloodshed, the militants realized that Kurram was not an easy game. This frustrated and enraged them further and they are reportedly started targeting Shia sect population (most of the natives of Kurram) in other areas to avenge their setback in Kurram. There is a significant proportion of Shia population in Hangu and if the militants make inroads in the city, Shia people in particular, and the rest in general, will be at a risk of death or torture. One lesson to learn from the Kurram natives, of course, is to gird up the loins for the terrorist calamity – a Do or Die call.
